In this POF review, I show you 6 reasons why it is the best online dating website that you need to use in finding the love of your life.
Okay, I might be a bit biased because I met my husband on this dating website but this POF review is legit.
Many people have misgivings about free dating websites and feel that paid ones can do more for them, like Match or eHarmony.
Before I met my husband I tried many of them out and found POF the easiest to navigate and worked the best for me.
Without further ado, here are the reasons why I think POF is the best online dating website for you:
1. More Members Registered
Plenty Of Fish has more members registered in its database at approximately 78,000,000 in the USA and 2,000,000 daily logins.
Match has approximately 13,000,000 members with 900,000 daily logins and Tinder has 10,000,000 members.
From what I have found, men and women who are on Match or Tinder, are most likely on POF as well.
Tip: If you don’t have a paid membership on Match, look for the same person in POF to message them. More than likely they are using the same username.
2. POF’s Mobile App Works World Wide
I learned this by experience when I was in Barcelona, Spain.
While in my hotel room I started getting a ton of messages in Spanish and I was a bit bummed because I didn’t know what they were saying!
Apparently, the app knows your location and members can check to see who’s nearby that they could perhaps connect with.
Tip: If you’re open to finding love at any location or country be sure to remove messaging filters.
3. Plenty Of Fish’s “Hide Profile” Feature
This is my favorite part about POF and I’ll tell you why.
When you first sign up for online dating it can be pretty exciting.
I mean, the thought that you could possibly find the love of your life at just a click or tap away can give you an exhilarating feeling.
That’s until you start getting messages or winks from men or women you find gross or unappealing.
Then you start getting a creepy feeling in your stomach knowing there are people who you would never consider as a partner looking at your picture and reading about you.
Don’t get me wrong, everybody deserves love.
But, when a man in his 60’s messages a 25-year-old woman, that’s just plain creepy!
With POF’s “Hide your profile” feature you can take yourself off the shelf and you do the shopping!
Here’s how it works:
When you hide your profile on Plenty of Fish you can still do searches for people that you think would be a good match for you.
If you see somebody that you might like, you can send them a message even if you have your profile hidden.
And because you made the contact with them they can, in turn, see your profile but others can’t.
This doesn’t work on other dating sites.
I know on Match if you want to send someone a message you have to unhide your profile otherwise the person that you are messaging won’t be able to see your profile.
And when you unhide your profile you will then start being in the searches again and you’ll be back up on the shelf.
Match does have this feature however, you have to upgrade your membership which is, in my opinion, is pretty expensive.
Go to Plenty Of Fish to learn how to hide your profile.
Tip: Hiding your profile can have some drawbacks as your soulmate may not find you. How about unhiding your profile for a week or two then when you feel creeped out hide it again.
4. Free Messaging
On POF you are not limited on who you can send a message to, except if you’re outside the person’s filtering parameters.
On other dating sites you have to have a paid membership to send a message to someone or open a message.
Sure, you can do searches but in my experience, even if you have a paid membership if the person you’re messaging is not a paid member, then they can’t open your message.
And let me tell you because it’s free to create a profile on most of these sites, a majority of members are non-paying.
5. Fewer Scammers On POF
When I talk about scammers, I’m talking about the kind of scammers that somehow hack into paid dating websites that are from other countries.
They are pretending to be from the United States or England, and sometimes other European countries that are not poor.
They steal other peoples pictures and use those in their scams.
Their ultimate goal is to try to have a connection with you then eventually ask you for money.
When I started dating online I fell for one of these scams and that’s how I became aware of it.
I was on Match and someone messaged me claiming to be in the military and was deployed in Afganistan.
This person asked me to use an obscure app to start messaging each other and not knowing any better I did it.
Then he started asking me to send pictures, which I know now he was collecting more pics for his next victim
To make a long story short, I became aware that he wasn’t who he said he was because I asked him what he was looking for in a woman and he said, “Honest, sweet and obedient.”
Obedient! Ha! There is no American male that would ever say that!
Anyways, after that, I could spot a scam when I saw it.
And I got quite a few on Match and none on POF.
Now I’m not saying it’s not possible to get scammers on POF as I’m sure they are there but, I think they troll the “premium” dating websites because they probably figure if a person is willing to pay for the site, they must have money!
Tip: Keep your search local or within 50 miles and this will cut down on scammers as they know they have to meet up with you eventually since you live in the same city or vicinity.

6. Ability To Update Your Profile Immediately
Since Plenty Of Fish is a free dating website you can basically say what you want or change anything on your profile without having to get approval first.
On many “premium” dating websites you have to get approval first.
This can be very annoying.
My Experience On Plenty Of Fish
Like I said at the beginning, I’m a bit biased when it comes to Plenty Of Fish because I’ve met some pretty amazing guys and mostly, I met my husband here.
I’ve been on some exciting dates like going on a tiny plane with a guy who owns a flight school, jet skiing, fast cars and going to some very fancy places and restaurants, etc.
Remember though, not everyone will be your cup of tea and you, not theirs.
Have fun but also be wise.
Be careful of who you communicate with and listen to your gut.
POF is far from perfect but if you use it right it can be a great start to the next chapter of your life and love.
Another great one to check out is the new Facebook Dating App, it also has some great features.
No matter the dating app you use be sure to learn its features and use them to your best advantage.
